City Folk was formed in 2023 by some singers from the Twin Cities and got our start at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival, where we won the 2024 Bottomless Hat award for best new act. Since then we've performed for pubs and school audiences around the metro and won praise for our combination of rollicking party songs, musical sensitivity, and lyrical storytelling.
Nowadays the band has both layered vocal harmonies and an array of instruments ranging from bodhrán to tin whistle to guitar to bouzouki. We continue to explore the folk music of the British Isles and have also expanded our repertory to include music by 20th and 21st-century artists in the folk tradition. We love making connections with traditional music, with the magic of live performance, and with audiences like you.
